Why Use Smntx

There is a wealth of information contained in the text of electronic health records that, if processed, can be used for a range of medical purposes including, but not limited to: clinical decision support, institutional auditing and billing, clinical quality improvement and research.

Existing NLP engines are, in general, hard to use, unable to process documents in real time, and cannot scale. There are substantial barriers for entry requiring expert users familier with the technical idiosyncrasies of each engine and the manual pre and post processing required.

Smntx abstracts the difficulties of using NLP technology through a easy to use, scalable, secure web service based model. After bulk NLP analysis of medical text results are stored and indexed for real time mining. The Smntx architecture has been shown to perform efficiently in an elastic Cloud environemnt using web, programming, and workflow tools.
